Fall is here and we're unabashedly enjoying all of the favorite flavors that come with it, from pumpkin spice to freshly picked apples. 

Even so, we're not about to fall out of our healthy eating habits. While it's sometimes easier to think of summer as the time to fill our plates with fresh produce, getting our fruits and veggies is just as important when the weather gets colder. 

Something else that stays important after summer: Staying hydrated. You may not feel as thirsty as the temperatures drop, so be mindful of hydration, says Christina Thomas, registered dietitian with Carilion Clinic Dining and Nutrition Services.

"During the colder months, forced-air heating can lead to dry skin, but staying hydrated can help prevent this," she says. "And you don't have to stick to just drinking water for hydration—water in the diet can also come from fruit and soups."

Almond Pumpkin Pancakes with Berries
